FotP 21st Ball
2009 South Shore Cultural Center Gala:
The Parks Ball Gala honored Vicky and George Ranney for their lifelong dedication to parks and to the environment. The Ranneys have taken leadership roles in many public-spirited organizations and projects over the years. Both were among the first to advocate building park land over the railroad tracks adjacent to Grant Park in downtown Chicago, a dream finally realized when Millennium Park was built. The Ranneys developed Prairie Crossing, a nationwide model of environmentally conscious development. More than 225 guests came to the South Shore Cultural center to honor the Ranneys, support Friends of the Parks, and, incidentally, to have a ball!

BEHIND THE LENS
Lee Auerbach began his photographic journey over 15 years ago. Following his love for travel and exploration, he used his 35mm to capture and convey rare moments in life. His passion for translating these foreign encounters into vivid pictures soon became addictive. After more than 30 countries, he embraced his love for social experiences and pursued an honors degree in marketing management in New York City. With a strong interest in music, he spent the next five years as a self-made booking agent for many prominent groups in the hip-hop and reggae genre. He also had a craving for adrenaline-based activities like drag racing, back country snowboarding, surfing, mountaineering, and spelunking. After moving to Chicago in 2007, he started his voyage in the world of media. Working with large publications like the Chicago Tribune, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, and most recently The Economist, he defined his expertise in publishing, business development, and photojournalism. While always having a camera at his side to record his journey, he is now pursuing a career in creating long lasting memories for other people's most cherished events. Whether running a marathon, tying the knot, unique sporting events, or travel journalism, he is constantly trying to preserve lasting memories that people will cherish for generations to come.
